Comics

Today we experimented with Comics that can be used in the classroom.

I downloaded a program called Comic Life. It was okay but it wasn't that great. I liked the ipad app called Comics Head better. 

Here are a few dot points on why comics in the classroom are awesome fun!

• engage readers who learn visually, and who are comfortable with visual media, such as video games and computer graphics

• increase vocabulary

• encourage readers to explore different genres, and develop an appreciation for different literary and artistic styles

• teach positive messages, such as helping others, working to one’s best ability, working as a team, and persevering

• open a reader’s mind to new ways of storytelling, and increase their imagination, through the unique combination of text and pictures used in comics to convey the story.

Powerpoint Presentation

Powerpoint presentations bring me back to my primary and high schools days. I have made too many of these!

They are boring and take ages.
But they are great for kids to hand up assignments and be creative. It also helps with the process of note taking.

What do you think about powerpoints? 

Podcasts

Podcasts are awesome!!!
Are you listeneing to them? If not you are behind the times!!
I listen to them a lot. Ones from church, ones about health and nutrition, ones about tv shows and movies.
they are great for on the go.

They can also be used in the classroom easily, and students will love being able to listen to that in the classroom or even make their own!

Blogs

Blogs are awesome!! I personally use one already and i think children will love them although i agree with the lectures about how important safety of the children will be.
Blogs can be personalised and i think children will be very engaged and want to do their work. They will also have the opportunity to comment on other peoples blogs.

there are a few things we need to know about blogs!!! Here they are:

1. Its an online collection of persona commentary and links.

2. Anyone can make and have a blog

3. All you need is a email account to be able to sign up and use one.

4. You can provide feedback and get feedback on blogs

5. Blogs allow knowledge sharing, reflection and debate

6. Blogs can sometimes be bias, so dont believe everything you read!

7. Blogs are getting super popular so jump on board!

8. Blogs can be used in the classroom in a variety of different ways! Kids will love them.
